Spencer's test results showed he dropped from 18 to 17. This is the right direction but not enough dropped for us to go home. So, he will continue to get photo therapy today and get a lab test at 6pm tonight.

This morning Spencer got a test taken for Jaundice. It came back positive. Katrina was upset because she planned on taking her big little boy home today. Spencer is under the lights on the beach, getting photo therapy for 4 hours. He can stop for feeding, but that's about it. It's hard because we can't hold him to make him stop crying. Our emotions are up and down. We know he'll get better. We'll eventually get moved down to peds room with a bed for Katrina. Please pray that this jaundice will go away quickly.

Third Night at Hotel Kadlec

Katrina and I have decided to stay at the hospital tonight. This choice gives us more care for baby and Katrina as she heals from the birth. Baby has been eating well today. Dr. Matta, Spencer's Ped., has given us the thumbs up so far for a healthy baby boy. We are both very wiped out. What a difference a day will make. I've taken Spencer for a few strolls around the birth center. It is so exciting to hear the cries of other newborns. I've heard it said the partent's of newborns enjoy hearing their child cry and mess their diaper a lot. Well, it's be found true on our end. Although, i can see how the crying part is going to wear off fast. :)

Katrina found Spencer in a full diaper of black tar. I took him to the change table and begun the process. My good friend Ismo walked in the door and he was my assitant. I told him i need wipes, "stat". As i was wiping Spencer's bum, the little boy decided to pee my way for his second wet diaper. As dad I'm proud of his diaper count, 2 wet, 2 dark and stormy. Well, we are getting ready for bed now. Can't wait to get some shut eye after one of the biggest days of our life. Love to all and thank you for praying.

Family and Friends,

We have begun the rest of our lives this morning. We each got about 3.5hrs of sleep this morning. Katrina and I are just starring at him in awe of God's unique workmanship. Spencer is sleeping in his crib next to Katrina's hospital bed. She is talking with her Dad on the cell phone. My parents and siblings left about 30 minutes to return to Spokane. We are both super tired, so we are going to try to get a nap in before more visitors arrive.

Please pray for patience and endurance for Katrina as she begins to practice breastfeeding.

Once we head home (probably Tuesday), I can begin to upload our pictures to this blog. He is getting more handsome by the hour. I wonder who he takes after?

Dr. Howertown likes how "gone" Katrina's cervix is, so in the next bit Katrina should start pushing, he thinks this could take about 30mins-2hrs.

Katrina had huge pain because her epiderhal had begun to fail. So, after delievery twins next door, Doctor Howerton checked Katrina and found that the baby had dropped a lot and her cervix very soft on one side. So, he is coming back in 30mins ish to check her again and see with some pushing and a vaccum, if Spencer won't come out. wow. Katrina was in huge pain there for about 25mins. She did great. Now she sleeps after getting a new spinal injection of narcotics. Instant relief. wow, what a change I think away from the C-Section.

Katrina is still at 7cm, the more correct size according to the doctor. We are praying during the next two hours to see more powerful contractions. If not, possibly we will look at the option of C-Section. Which does bum Katrina; however, with that said, Katrina will do whatever it takes for a healthly baby.

The nurse confirmed that Katrina is still at 9.5cm. So, she increased the level of patocin. This should increase the strength of the contractions. Waiting is the hardest part for me.

Katrina had the anathe....ologist give her another dose of concentrated pain IV. We should be getting a visit from the nurse in the next 30 minutes or so to check on her dialation. We were both able to rest for a few more minutes, so that is always good before she starts the pushing. Outside it is humid and warm, around 90'F. We've heard that storm is going to come through tomorrow. The temps are going to drop 20'f to 70'f for the high and rain. Katrina likes the rain, so i thought it fitting.

The Nurse will be back in around one hour to check Katrina's dialation. Once she reaches 10cm, the pushing will begin. The nurse said the pushing could last about 2hours for first time moms. We will see. Katrina has been feeling presure for the last two hours. Which is a good sign. Her epiderhal has been increased with 2 smaller concentrated doses that relieve "windows of pain". Katrina likes the them! She is going to try to sleep now before she gets to the pushing. We are both tired, but each of got some sleep between 11-1pm today. Thank you Jesus for sleep!

Katrina's Dr. just broke her water. Katrina said it was a weird feeling for sure. Now, we wait more. She is dialated 3cm. The Dr. said she should begin to feel more painful contractions. Each step is a big step at this point. Both Katrina and I have both tried to sleep two times tonight. I think Katrina feel asleep once for 30mins or so, which is good. I wasn't able to find any deep sleep. We have soft music playing.

Katrina got her first pill to slowly begin contractions around 10:20pm. Around 2:30am Dr. Sizemore will check on her and evaluate the next move. She is pretty uncomfortable right now with her iv stinging in her right hand. We just layed down for about an 1.5 hrs and our friend Corey stopped by from the medical floor. He is a nurse. We are in good hands. We are going to go for our first walk around the birthing center.

One Step Closer

We got bumped ahead in the inducement ranking tonight! Instead of waiting for 8am tomorrow (Sunday, Aug. 24), the nurse called and told us to come in at 7pm (Saturday). We are here! Our birthing room/suite is huge and we feel pumped just to be here. The nurse's name is Annie. She will begin our inducement after she finishes with a delivery down the hall. Ya! Love Marc

Marc and I celebrated our 2nd anniversary on June 25th. The actual day was mid-week so we waited until the following weekend to get-a-way. We started a tradition where each year one of us takes turns planning how we will spend our anniversary. This year it was my turn.

So we stayed at the historic Marcus Whitman hotel in Walla Walla. It was beautiful and we really enjoyed the fact that it was only an hour away.

We stayed at the Marcus Whitman for 2 nights and 3 days. It worked out that we were there over the 4th of July weekend. The hotel has a restaurant called "The Marc". We made sure to eat there once. We shared the best dessert I have ever had--a home-made caramel macchiato dessert. Home-made ice cream surrounded by a caramel baked crust. It was incredible.

It seemed like the whole town of Walla Walla spent July 4th at the park. We sat on a blanket and read books, listened to a couple of different performers and then walked around the park and looked at the vendors. It was great day and we really enjoyed the fireworks that night.
Lastly, here is a picture of us the morning of our last day. We took our Bibles to a local coffee shop and just enjoyed reading, sharing and people watching. All in all we just had a great time!

The ladies in my "small group" threw me a baby shower. It was my second one, as my mother-in-law threw me one is Spokane several weeks earlier. We have been super blessed with so many showers. My Stampin' Up! ladies threw me a surprise shower and then I had a bigger church shower in July. What a blessing it is to be in community!

Surprise Trip to Canada

3 days after school got out, I flew home to surprise my family. My dad was the only one who knew I was coming home. The main purpose for going was to visit with family and give them a chance to see me pregnant. It is tricky to go through this major life change and not have my family close by to be a part of it. So I was very thankful for the opportunity to make it home.

The surprise went off with out a hitch and the entire trip was wonderful. I got spend time with everyone and even see a couple of friends. It was great to be back home, but I realized that my understanding of home is changing. Belleville will always be home in the sense that my family is there, but Richland is home because Marc is here. I, of course, missed Marc but it was also good to realize that I missed my house, my dog and my Tri-City friends.

A couple of pictures to catalog my trip home:

I flew into Toronto and got to spend the night with good friends Amber and Jon. Plus I had the privilege to meet sweet Abigail for the first time. She is precious. It was so good to visit with friends.

What would a trip home be without pictures of my sweet Sophia.? My little neice is growing up so fast. She is adorable as you can see. Plus she has the funniest sense of humor. When I first walked in and surprised everybody, Sophia kept trying to get my attention. After the third attempt I finally got down and asked her what it was she wanted. Her response was, "Aunt Katrina where is Uncle Marc?" Oh that about did me in. So precious to hear my name on her lips. She hasn't forgotten us.

I have to admit this picture is a bit of a posed one. It was re-enacted from the night before. I went to see Shane play soccer and just before the game started he came over and gave me a big hug. Then he grabbed my belly and just held on. It was pretty funny. The other nephews were not so keen on feeling the movements of their soon to be cousin. But Shane was more than happy to. It was pretty cute.

Spencer's Room Part 1

Marc and I were anxious to get started on the baby's room. Who, by the way, we have named Spencer. So we worked hard on Memorial Day weekend to tackle this project. It first involved emptying the room of its current contents (a whole bedroom suite) and moving that into the office/craft room.

Then we started painting. Don't worry it was well ventilated. 3 coats on the bottom and 2 coats on the top. Then we painted the chair rail and the following weekend we put it up. We also put up trim around the closet doors. I will say his room is the nicest in the house.

The next step is to do the finish work on the trim and then set up the crib. I am excited to do that and then start moving things into his room and getting ready for him. I think this is commonly referred to as the nesting stage of pregnancy. :)

This was my first time painting. Not bad for a beginner. We put "rejuvenate" on the top half of the wall. It is a light green.

Voila! The painting is done and the chair rail and trim are next to go up.

Spencer's Room Part 2

I definitely look very pregnant in this picture. This is me learning how to use the nail finishing gun. I did it once and that was enough for me.

Marc put up most of the chair rail, while I held it in place. He did a spectacular job and looked so manly and proud holding his (borrowed) power tool.

I think the lion was my favorite this trip. He strutted his stuff and then walked directly towards us. Of course there was a glass enclosure separating us, but it was like he had his eyes on us and was walking right to us. Everyone in the group started to lean back the closer he got. He ended up coming up to the glass and then turning around and sitting down with his rump against the glass. The kids loved it.

Hippos are my favorite animal so I had to get a shot of them.

You can't see as well in the picture, but the giraffes were being hilarious. They had their necks intertwined and kept "head-butting" each other. Pretty funny to watch.

Class trip to Seattle

It is a tradition at my school that the 5th grade classes go on an overnight trip to Seattle. I went last year and loved it. This year I was a little bit concerned about going because I was going to be 25 weeks pregnant and knew we were doing lots of walking. So Marc came on the trip and we had a blast with my students. We went to an IMAX on the Grand Canyon (which was really a political ranting about water conservation...which is a good thing, don't get me wrong. Maybe just a little over the heads of 11 year olds though). We toured the Pacific Science Center, went up the Space Needle, spent the night at a hotel (as compared to sleeping on the floor of the Science Center), went to the Zoo (my FAVORITE part) and then on a Ferry ride. It was a tiring trip, but so fun.

I can not fully describe how animated the animals were. We caught them on a great day. The gorilla walked right passed us and then put his hand against the glass. The kids all put their hands there too and were screaming. That gorilla was HUGE.

We heard the tiger roaring and decided to go check it out. He was pacing back and forth and kept stopping to look at the crowd. He started to jump down each level of his enclosure to the point where he actually jumped out of sight. At that point we decided to leave, since we weren't too interested in having any experience like the San Diego zoo mauling. So we hussled out of there quick quick.

The 20 week ultra sound was incredible. We were hoping to find out the gender of our baby, so I took the advice of a good friend (thanks Amber) and drank some caffeine before going. It worked and baby was able to give us the "money shot" we were hoping for. So we are proud to announce that we are having a baby BOY! I think it took both Marc and I by surprise. Everyone around here kept telling us they thought it was a girl. And well, we kind of did too. When the technician confirmed it was a boy, Marc was speechless. It was pretty funny. I think he was in shock. He said afterwards that he didn't realize how much he wanted a boy until the technician started doing all the measurements. So we are pretty happy that our baby is healthy and looked like a baby (or maybe a bit alien ish....but I know that will change!).

Some serious gifts from my first Baby Shower. My mother-in-law hosted it in Spokane while my parents were in town. It was really special to have my mom there.

As you can see we were really blessed from this shower. And to think I have 2 more to come. God has blessed us with a lot of love and support.

Spring Break

Week 20

My parents flew out for Spring Break. We got back from our friend's wedding and seeing Sam and Jenna, then picked up my parents the next day. It was GREAT to have them here. They hadn't seen our home or me pregnant. They spoiled us rotten. The other really exciting thing that happened this week was my 20 week ultra sound. So my mom accompanied Marc and I to the ultra sound and we were able to find out the gender of the baby. Hooray!

Road Trip

At church this month and next we are learning about the Beatitudes of Jesus' Sermon on the Mount (Matthew ch.5). The 8 principles found in the Beatitudes will be keys to discovering life at its best...the way God designed it. So, we are going on a spiritual road trip of discovery and adventure.

Thursday Katrina and I jumped in our friends' SUV and took off for Lincoln City, OR for our own travels. The photographs are in chronological order. We begin at Tapteal Elementary School, West Richland, WA 4:00pm Thursday.

We drove to Hillsboro, OR and and stayed the night with Sam, Jenna, Nathan and baby Isaac. We are so happy for them as they have two healthy boys and look to a possible adventure in moving south towards Salem for Sam's job change.

Ice Cream! We took the scenic route Highway 26 to Tillamook, OR on HWY 101. The fresh mountain huckleberry and pistachio almond hit me just right. Katrina enjoyed her huckleberry (she copied me) and chocolate and peanut butter flavors.

We arrived at our ocean side hotel, the Sandcastle. I jumped in the hot tub, while Katrina went to the outlet malls for a quick shop-shop. We caught a cat-nap Friday.

Friday night we met up with Jordan and Shannon for their wedding rehearsal dinner. They rented two over the top beach houses with a cottage in Lincoln City. These two homes were completely renovated with luxury. The kitchens were set up with professional gourmet appliances, each bathroom had towel warmers and bath robs for adults and kids. At the cost of $1,700 for two nights that's what you'd expect. I forgot to mention that each bedroom had a TV and gaming system. Katrina and I loved bookcase room off the back deck.

The rehearsal was fun times in the front room as two of the groomsmen, bless their hearts, were down at the local casino. So, we grabbed two guys hanging out in the front room and had them practice for their buddies. We figured out the unity sand ceremony with many advisors to the bride. Afterwards, we headed home and watched half of Raider's of the Lost Ark before falling asleep around 11:30pm.

The next morning we went out for breakfast and coffee before heading over to the beach house at 12:30pm for the wedding. I ate the strawberry crepes and Katrina ate the french toast. At Starbucks I enjoyed a honey latte while figuring out the legal documents for the bride and groom.

The wedding was to take place between 1-2pm depending on the weather. It rained nearly all day. I prayed a lot for the rain to stop. It did stop around 1:15pm, but the wedding party wasn't ready. Then, I heard we were "on" so we all walked quickly in the rain to the predetermined location on the beach. The rain was pelting my right side and wind gave us all a chattering teeth chill.

The bride and groom had great attitudes and so did the family and friends. We all went out their with smiles and enjoyed a special, spiritual moment with Jordan and Shannon. Shannon is school teacher with Katrina. I did the short version focusing on the unity ceremony, the vows, and the exchange of rings with a prayer of blessing. Showers of joy.

Buckaroo's 1st bath

After playing outside in an April snow/hail storm (odd for us to have such inclement weather in a desert), Roo was filthy. So we talked him into something he didn't care for. But, parents know best.

Our little puppy eats 3 squares a day (if I remember to feed him at lunch). He went on his first big hike Monday. Ismo, Creighton, and I climbed the steep side of Badger Mt. Over 3 miles total Roo! Two Visits for the Price of One

Katrina caught me off gaurd, when see secretly invited 17 of my friends to join us for our romantic dinner at P.F. Chang's. I was so schocked that I didn't get it at first. I thought to myself, why are all my best friends here without me? Then it hit me, they're here for me! Ya! We had 10 dishes of either chicken, shrimp, beef, more chicken, and noodles with rice for dinner. Afterwards we all met up at a new DQ Grill and Chill for dessert. That small Blizzard was way too sweet! Thank you Honey for making my 30th Birthday so special. I love you Katrina. M

Marc's 30th BDay Week

Well,

Thank you Dad and Mom for driving down to Richland Saturday for my Birthday. Thanks for spoiling us with dinner at Anthony's and purchasing and installing our new dogie door. Last night was the first time in 2.5wks that i didn't have to get up in the middle of the night to let Roo out. Also, Uncle Dan and Aunt Sharon were in town with a church family. They shared dinner with us last night at Anthony's and stopped by the house to see Roo. It was cool to have Uncle Dan and Aunt Sharon at Church too. So, BDay cards are beginning to arrive in the mail and Katrina has a nice dinner planned for me at the grand opening of P.F. Chang's tomorrow night! More to come on this topic.

Our new Golden Retriever was born on October 23, 2007. We picked him up on Friday Dec. 28th in Mica Peak, WA. His full registered name will be Mica Peak Buckaroo. We call him Roo. He is a handsome pure bread golden. His Sire (dad) is Hollykins Rio Grande an American Kennel Club Champion. Roo's Dam (mom) is Johnsons Goldenquest Chanel or "Nell." Nell was born by a Canadian champion sire Goldenquest Jaayd. Nell's mom was a field rated golden. So, the cool thing is that Roo's Dad is an American Champion, and his Grandfather is a Canadian champion. Once we get his official paper work, we might find some cool facts too post.

The Coeur d'Alene Resort

Katrina and I met up with Ismo and Christina on Thursday before New Year's Eve. We ate lunch in Post Falls at the White House a.k.a the garlic factory! When drove another 15 minutes east to the CDA Resort which was covered in snow and thousands of Christmas lights. In fact, the light show is the biggest of its kind in the U.S. We took a chilly boat cruise to see the "North Pole" and the largest living Christmas lit tree in the world. It was taller than the Rockefeller's and U.S. White House's tree combined. We ate great food, sat by the blazing fire to warm ourselves, and enjoyed the hot tub, pool, and saunas. I visited my favorite local coffee roaster, Doma. Another nice treat was that both of our rooms were upgrade to a view looking west over CDA Lake. I spent a few moments on the boat cruise reflecting God's goodness in 2007! The majesty of the NW outdoors blanketed in snow inspired me to praise God and want to be a part of His plans of blessing in 2008. Katrina and I are so blessed with God's provision that we want to see many more people join God's family and experience the peace, joy, and thankfulness in our spirits.

Katrina and I took many pictures during our Christmas break in Richland, Spokane, and Coeur d'Alene. It was the first time celebrating Christ's coming at our new home. Before we drove to my parents for Christmas week, Katrina and I hosted our young marrieds/singles small group. The guys decided they would overcome their fear of snow by walking barefoot outside...truly a bonding moment! From left to right is Creighton, myself, Ryan, and Justin. Joel and Darren followed soon after. At Dad and Mom's we celebrated with the extended family on Christmas Eve. The food was totally scrumptious and seeing my cousins, uncles, aunts, and Nana is always nice. We did a gift exchange at the end and we walked away with two movie tickets. Playing with our nephew Cade and niece Ellie gave us countless smiles and memories of our childhoods.

It's fully November now. I've used the Toro lawnmower 3 times this fall to "rake-up" the leaves. My pumpkin with "Jesus" carved into the front burns nightly. My candle is seriously into endurance. I blow it out in the morning before biking to work. Biking to and from work has been one of my favorite changes in my daily routine. It's kinda like an adventure that begins different each morning. Some days it's cold and I feel like my forehead is going to freeze off! Other days like Sunday morning I bike with dress clothes and it go to be about 71'F by the afternoon. Yesterday I biked to Costco in Kennewick along a new nature path on the 240/Yakima River delta area. Really enjoyed myself.

Saturday Katrina and I picked up our new bench for the living room entry way. We had it made to match our entry way coat hanger and organizer. We found items at Costco for Christmas decor that got us both excited to get into the spirit of Christmas. ya baby Jesus!

Katrina is in the beginning madness of report cards for her 72 students and I have just finished working with Pastor Wes to finalize my portfolio as the Family Life Pastor. Our stress levels have been up and down and Katrina and I have been praying together for her work team to be less divisive and more enjoyable. But, my baby Katrina is getting it done and I'm so proud of her. I am a blessed husband!

I tell friends often how blessed we are to be in our first home and have friends who pray for us and love both of us. God is good during this new time in our marriage...when we are both working full time. We look forward to Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Spring Break because that means time with family in Spokane and Canada.

Retreat!

Looking northwest near Diamond Lake, WA. Katrina and I would love to introduce you to our new friends Creighton & Karli Knight. They are responsible for blessing us with two nights away at their parents lake house. This picture was taken on Friday morning as we hiked for 2 hours near the lake. This property includes 200 acres and one day will be fore sale. I hope the Knight's purchase it! Creighton and I agreed that it would be prime paint ball territory for the young adults at our church. As you can see, the fall weather was near perfect for getaway. We played lots of board games, ate yummy barbecue steaks, and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. Both couples had their separate bedrooms. They let us take the master suite with full bath over looking Diamond Lake. Creighton & Karli are those special type of friends that come into your life with encouragement, peace, wisdom, and fun. Their daughter "Allie" brightens up each room she enters. Katrina and I slept in two days in a row which was needed. Katrina has been putting in extra hours at school to get a new 5Th grade rotation model up and running. Of course the wood fireplace in the great room gave a rustic flare to our atmosphere. I was able to spend Friday morning typing out most of my sermon for Sunday. God spoke to me in fluid ways that helped me preach on Sunday with a deeper sense of peace and ease of communication. What a setting to work on a sermon! We are grateful for our new friends Creighton & Karli! Here they are followed by a picture of us at the lake.

Birthday Weekend Continues

Katrina wanted a birthday to remember so I enjoyed spoiling her. I did some small projects around the house, bought her a new bike and gift certificate for the Aveda Spa. She is so worth it. On the night of her special day we gathered at the King and I for excellent

Thai food. We ate family style with Creighton & Karli, Ryan & Ellie, and Ismo & Christina. What great friends. To say the least I was stuffed. We drove back to our house and ate ice cream cake, a Spencer family tradition. I am so proud of Katrina and am so glad God sent her to me as gift from Him. God is good.

Another part of Katrina's weekend was surprising her at our small group by including her in a 30Th birthday party for 5 people: Katrina, Ellie, Ismo, Justin, and Christina. They got our their walker just in case vertigo sets in early.

What a way to begin your 30th birthday weekend! After two false and disappointing attempts, Katrina finally experienced her wedding present from me, her beloved husband of 1 year 3 months and 6 days. Here is a shot of pre-jump conditioning.

Once all the crew (pilot, camera man, tandem master, and crazy skydiver extra, plus beautiful Katrina) were ready they boarded the small plane at Richland airport. The peanut gallery included Ryan, Ellie, Aidan, Ismo, and Christina. Rock on guys, rock on! Thankfully i was excluded from that group due to my marital status with the jumper.

Yes, i was nervous about my wife jumping out of plane at 12,000ft. I prayed and said to myself, "well Lord, here she goes." Watching her fall for several minutes was exciting. She spun around once her parachute opened after a 40sec free fall. Katrina's parachute is the tiny green dot. Katrina spoke loud enough for us to hear her conversations nearer the ground. The landing is a rush for the observer at ground level. The tandem enters the last 50 feet at speeds of 20-30+ mph. The cool part was how soft Katrina landed with he instructor on their bums in nice grassy field. The birthday weekend had began. Will will try to upload the DVD to You Tube in the next few weeks.

Monday Sabbath

Hi there,

It is Monday. One of my favorite days of the week. Why? Most people can't stand Monday mornings. My schedule is different than most people. There are pros and cons that come with weekly timeline in pastoring people. I love my job as a Family Pastor. It is hard work in almost every sense of the word. One of the biggest blessings is discovering God more and allowing His grace and truth to transform my life. Mondays are my days to set aside for physical rest, spiritual renewal, and solitude.

I love to pray on these days, read my Bible and other books. I journal my thoughts and feelings and that helps me rest too. I need it today! You see for the past 2.5 weeks, I've been working hard and long to prepare our church ministry leaders for fall discipleship ministry. What an emotional and spiritual journey! Last night Pastor Wes, Katrina, Pastor Ryan, and myself spoke about fall discipleship transitions to about 85 church members. The 2.5 weeks of hard work payed off as we boldly painted a picture of single-minded purpose for our Wednesday night's discipleship ministries. I hope all of you can find a one day a week to unplug and spend time with Father God and your love ones nearest you. It is so hard when our days are planned 5-10 weeks in advance. I guess we need to plan down time.

God has been training me to spend down time with Him and Katrina. Now amount of reading or writing or TV can replace my time waiting on Him in solitude. Katrina adds a huge dimenions of health to my life. She loves me for who I am.

So, I'm hanging out at home today. Going to mow that back lawn and I might go for a bike ride and pick up a bike lock and an attached water bottle. Here is a pic of my new ride. I ride to work Tuesday - Friday. Feeling the cool breeze on the way to work at 8:15a.m. is refreshing. It's about a 9min ride over 1.5miles of mostly flat subdivision asphalt.

On July 16 Katrina and I danced in our living room! We were joined by great friends in packing up the dearest Eagles Nest and moving 1.5 miles northwest to our new home (yet to be named) on Duluth Street. It was hot, just below 100'F outside and much warmer in the tin-box U-Haul rental. Like my brother Matu, we were blessed with the oldest U-Haul in the Tri-Cities. It was a 5speed diesel beast from the 1980s. Good thing I clocked 3miles in total distance for the day. Hey, for under $40 bucks you just can't beat it!

I find it hard to write in words how grateful I feel about this new home. Katrina and I often catch ourselves praising God together for this over-the-top gift! One of my favorite parts of the house is the back deck and pergola. Weather permitting, I bring my Bible and journal out back and soak in the morning rays and view the green mature landscape. Oh, and I fight off the pesky squirrels with our automatic airsoft handgun.

Congrats to my awesome brother Matu and sister Jen on their becoming...parents! Ya! Katrina and I were shocked with joyful news this past Sunday morning. Matu called and left the best voicemail ever: "Jen had baby Ellie this morning before 5am!" I rushed to call Matu back in all my excitement. He answered from Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, WA. Baby Ellie and Mom were both healthy! She weighs about 6.5lbs and 19 1/2 inches long. She is the cutest little doll this side of the Great Lakes. I say perfect arrival because so many family and friends were able to travel over Labor Day Weekend to celebrate with Matu and Jen. Before we left town on Monday, Katrina and stopped by Matu and Jen's new house to hold Ellie and celebrate with her proud parents again. She seemed so small in that big house. Katrina loved her little wrinkles. What beautiful baby girl. Katrina and I join the rest of the fam and friends in shouting Hallelujah to God in the Highest for His good and precious gift....Ellie Anne Henshaw born with speed 9-2-07

Memorial Day

Marc and I enjoyed this past weekend with dear friends. We all converged on The Dalles, OR and had a fantastic Memorial Day weekend. So great, in fact, that it has become the first annual "Memorial Day at The Sady's". We plan to go back! :)

We met up with Sam and Jenna at Sam's parents' place in The Dalles. This place is a wonderful retreat. Sam and Jenna treated us to an extravagent dinner at The Columbia Gorge Hotel (thanks DaddyBob for the gift certificates!). It was so fun to go on a double date with Jenna and her husband. We all dressed up (they left the little one at home with grandma and grandpa) and we feasted for almost 3 hours. What an experience. Felt a little bit like a fish out of water...but it was so fun. I think I most enjoyed the Sorbet with Champagne to "cleanse" our pallets before the main course!

The Sady's home is located in the most beautiful valley in The Dalles. Their home truly is a retreat. Sam, Jenna, Nathan and Marc went for a hike Monday morning (as I slept and tried to get over a blasted cold that hit on Saturday). The weather was beautiful, the food delicious (thanks to Toni!) and the friendships even better. Marc and Sam enjoyed some frisbee golf, while Jenna and I soaked up the sun reading our books and magazines. Ahh...

I am constantly amazed by God's divine plan. He put Jenna and I together as roommates, at Trinity Western University, 11 years ago. We roomed all 4 years together. 7 years after graduating we are still close friends and able to enjoy our friendship and now with our husbands. Oh praise God for His divine nature.

We had a great weekend and came back rejuvenated. What more could you ask for in a 24 hour get-a-way!

On the Hunt for a House

Tomorrow is a BIG day. We are meeting with our dear friend Carol to sign papers to purchase our first home. We truly are blessed as this house has been a gift from God. Carol has been uber generous and we are so grateful.

The house has 3 bedrooms, 2 car garage, master bath, living room, family room with gas fireplace and a backyard (with trees). Finding a house with a backyard and mature trees is a true find when you live in the desert. So we are all the more excited. Praise be to God!

It looks like the move in date will be July 16th. Which also means there will be rooms for friends and family to come and visit. And a nice backyard that is fully landscaped with a deck (did I mention it had trees too?!). Friends (and family)...come visit!!

God of Abundant Blessing

It has taken me a while to get into the Blog scene, but here I am. Or should I say, here we are. Marc has been wanting us to join the world of bloggers but I have held back. Cautious maybe. Tonight I was inspired though. I saw posts from friends in Ontario, Canada and my heart ached for them. I love reading my friends' blogs (who are all over the world) and seeing pictures of their precious little ones.

God of abundant blessing is a fitting title for my first entry. Marc and I have almost been married 11 months. What a fantastic journey we are on. Each day presents itself with new situations and scenarios. We are learning more and more about each other and how we work as a couple. I am blessed to have married the man of my dreams.

We live and work in Richland, Washington. Maybe not a big deal for some...but when you are a Canadian from the East, Richland is a long way from "home". How in the world did I end up living in the desert? Oh that's right...I fell in love. And there is no way I would go back.

Marc is an associate pastor here in Richland and I teach at a public elementary school. Life is full and busy for us. We are in the process of purchasing our first home and are tremendously excited about it. God of abundant blessing!
